The Troubadours of Folk
The Troubadours of Folk
A new decade, new thinking, the beginning of a new age
With the end of the McCarthy era, rise of the civil rights movement, the anti-nuclear movement and the beginning of a new political era, folk music was moving from the anthems of traditional music into a new contemporary/urban folk era, evolving into a medium where the youth of the era could express themselves. At the center of the movement was Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. It was here that these youthful folk immigrants jurneyed to find the truth in their music.
The voices of the sixties inspired new voices to sing out across generations changing the meaning of folk music and igniting the fuse to the explosion of the singer/songwriter for years to come.
Grover take's you on an entertaining and nostalgic journey that relives the songs and stories that sparked the folk movement of the 1960's.
